For most of us working in a digital career, working from home might not seem like a big transition. But as we start to settle in to the third week of mandatory social distancing, it can be easy to let go of our productive habits, such as getting dressed each day and socializing with both colleagues and friends.
BC Business recently featured Talk Shop Media Co-Founder Sara Padidar for her advice on staying sane while working from home.
Here’s what she recommends:
1. Get up and get ready for work each day
Staying in your PJs, while novel at first, will inevitably impact your mood and productivity at work. Because many meetings are now held via video, getting dressed for work also helps to ensure you are video-ready.
2. Create a home office setup for yourself, in any way you can
This will make a difference to your mindset and your ability to stay focused, and help create separation between work and home life.
3. Consider the use of online tools like Asana to manage and share workflow with your team
Asana can help team members share and work on projects.
4. Schedule coffee breaks and lunches with your colleagues via video conferencing
This way, you can maintain connections and ensure proper breaks throughout your day.
