Nextdoor
Nextdoor Canada came to Talk Shop looking for an agency partner to support the acquisition of new app users through community-based campaigns and media storytelling. As the Canadian arm of a public, global company, Nextdoor Canada sought to increase its brand awareness specifically among the Ontario and Toronto audience through earned media attention that demonstrated the trusted information, connections, and neighbourly support available to Canadians on the platform.
Our Approach:
Talk Shop used an “always-on” approach to secure consistent, monthly earned coverage for Nextdoor Canada across mainstream and technology media, establishing new relationships with key journalists and champions of the app. By embedding ourselves into the platform and feeds, Talk Shop identified and shared stories of neighbours in various regions with the media, strengthening third-party storytelling of “real” Canadians benefiting from the app. Collaborations with partners like the Toronto FC and Food Allergy Canada further amplified the utility and credibility of Nextdoor in Canada.
Results & Reaction:
Talk Shop secured a litany of quality, top-tier coverage for Nextdoor Canada in 2023, including on Global News, CityNews, CP24, and radio stations across the country. The coverage landed Nextdoor Canada in front of its key user acquisition audience in Ontario, but also earned attention among media in British Columbia, which has spurred new potential and interest in market expansion for continued PR efforts.
